The descendants of agricultural laborer Thomas Ellkinton (died 1860) and his wife Ann Pearson (died 1857), who lived in Frampton Parish in Lincolnshire in England. Their two sons emigrated to the United States in 1851. Until about 1880, the name was spelled Ellkinton.
